Hydrosols are fragrant distilled waters that carry the properties of the plants used in the distillation process. All our toners and splashes are made from hydrosols. We never use alcohol or alcohol based astringents in any of our products.

And there’s a story behind this cream and the name Malta. Malta belonged to the four-legged group of earth beings, more specifically of the bovine group. She was a well-loved school cow. Malta lived permanently on a school farm in Santa Rosa California where a multitude of children, a dedicated farmer and an entire community of people cared for her. One day she got caught on a barbed wire fence and tore her flesh. The wound wouldn’t heal. The worried farmer called the vet who cleaned the wound and administered ointments but it just did not get better.

As members of the community and dedicated fans of Malta, we volunteered to create an ointment in the hopes of speeding her recovery and relieving her suffering. We created a cream made from clay to draw out the problem; aloe to sooth the area and herbal oils to stimulate tissue improvement. The wound got better and the area was left as good as new. Malta has since made the journey to the greenest pasture in the sky after a long life with exceptionally good skin but her legacy remains in this cream named after her.

Since its creation and success, many people, and animals, have enjoyed Malta’s cream and its soothing effects. DARJEELING TEA SOAP DARJEELING TEA SOAP one of our tea based soaps, see also Green Tea, White tea and Rooibos, is a delightful soap using Biodynamic Darjeeling tea from the Makaibari Tea Estate in Darjeeling, India. Teas have antioxidants and tannins that help keep the skin in good repair and give the soap a dark herbal color, naturally. The scent is refreshing and exotic from a mix of fragrant Jasmine wax and essential oils of Cypress, Orange and Coriander. The soap is made with a variety of organic seed and nut oils and butters.

Made primarily from organic vegetable oils and herbal infusions we only use pure essential oils for scent- never irritating fragrance oils. Kind to the skin these bars are formulated to moisturize and condition the body with additional high quality oils and additives. For fun and health we sometimes add organic herbs, grains, colorful clays, specialty oils and waxes to these bars that lather well and can last a good long time. Be sure to keep them out of water!

This year our elderberry bushes produced an abundant crop of glossy black berries. As berries go, elderberries are not very sweet and could be considered medicinal tasting. To make our cordial we combined our elderberries with our own rose glycerin extract and some grain alcohol to make a slightly sweet-tasting cordial packed with all the beneficial properties of elderberries. You can add a dropper to a small glass of water to impart a sweet taste to your daily hydration. Or add Elderberry Cordial to holiday drinks to infuse a classic cocktail with elderberry tanginess.
