And there’s a story behind this cream and the name Malta. Malta belonged to the four-legged group of earth beings, more specifically of the bovine group. She was a well-loved school cow. Malta lived permanently on a school farm in Santa Rosa California where a multitude of children, a dedicated farmer and an entire community of people cared for her. One day she got caught on a barbed wire fence and tore her flesh. The wound wouldn’t heal. The worried farmer called the vet who cleaned the wound and administered ointments but it just did not get better.

As members of the community and dedicated fans of Malta, we volunteered to create an ointment in the hopes of speeding her recovery and relieving her suffering. We created a cream made from clay to draw out the problem; aloe to sooth the area and herbal oils to stimulate tissue improvement. The wound got better and the area was left as good as new. Malta has since made the journey to the greenest pasture in the sky after a long life with exceptionally good skin but her legacy remains in this cream named after her.

Since its creation and success, many people, and animals, have enjoyed Malta’s cream and its soothing effects. The Shea Butter used by SOLUM&HERBE comes from the ADagomba Ah Shayh Women’s Cooperative in Ghana, where they harvest and process the nuts of the Shea tree in the traditional manner. This is a Fair Trade product. The wild grown Shea butter is combined with Organic carrier oils, Aloe and Lavender Hydrosol to produce a Body Cream that is more than 90% Organic or wild ingredients.

The Cream contains: Lavender & Rose Geranium Cream contains Wild grown Shea Butter from Ghana 20%, Aloe vera, Organic Sesame oil, Organic Almond oil, Organic Perilla seed oil, Organic Lavender hydrosol, Witch hazel hydrosol, Organic Calophyllum inophyllum, Eco plant extracts of fresh Lavender, Green tea, Calendula, Rose, Beeswax, Vitamin E, Organic Essential oils of Rose Geranium, Lavender and Rosemary, Flower Essences of Self Heal, Rose Quartz, Angelica, Cecil Brunner Rose.

For fun and health we sometimes add organic herbs, grains, colorful clays, specialty oils and waxes to these bars that lather well and can last a good long time. Be sure to keep them out of water!

DARJEELING TEA SOAP DARJEELING TEA SOAP one of our tea based soaps, see also Green Tea, White tea and Rooibos, is a delightful soap using Biodynamic Darjeeling tea from the Makaibari Tea Estate in Darjeeling, India. Teas have antioxidants and tannins that help keep the skin in good repair and give the soap a dark herbal color, naturally. The scent is refreshing and exotic from a mix of fragrant Jasmine wax and essential oils of Cypress, Orange and Coriander. The soap is made with a variety of organic seed and nut oils and butters.
