As a member of the mint or Lamiaceae family it attracts many bees to its small but nectar laden flowers. And there’s a story behind this cream and the name Malta. Malta belonged to the four-legged group of earth beings, more specifically of the bovine group. She was a well-loved school cow. Malta lived permanently on a school farm in Santa Rosa California where a multitude of children, a dedicated farmer and an entire community of people cared for her. One day she got caught on a barbed wire fence and tore her flesh. The wound wouldn’t heal. The worried farmer called the vet who cleaned the wound and administered ointments but it just did not get better.

As members of the community and dedicated fans of Malta, we volunteered to create an ointment in the hopes of speeding her recovery and relieving her suffering. We created a cream made from clay to draw out the problem; aloe to sooth the area and herbal oils to stimulate tissue improvement. The wound got better and the area was left as good as new. Malta has since made the journey to the greenest pasture in the sky after a long life with exceptionally good skin but her legacy remains in this cream named after her.

Since its creation and success, many people, and animals, have enjoyed Malta’s cream and its soothing effects. ARTEMISIA OIL (Mugwort) Artemis was the Greek goddess of the hunt, small animals and the woodlands and, the goddess of childbirth, midwives and the protectress of infants and young girls. She ruled the Moon opposite her brother Apollo who ruled the sun. The silvery leaves of the Artemisia plant evoke the dream state and represent intuition, creativity and artistic pursuits. On a moonlit night, the white and silver leaves shimmer in the pale glow.

The traditional use of Artemisia, also called Mugwort is steeped in the traditions of the feminine. This stimulating oil helps relieve menstrual cramps and menopausal symptoms creating a sense of warmth and balance.

USE: Apply topically on areas experiencing cramping or discomfort to increase circulation or rub a light layer all over for a gently stimulate and warm the body. Traditionally, Artemisia oil was used to calm tremors.

CAUTION: Avoid Artemisia oil both internally and externally during pregnancy as the stimulating properties can interfere with the natural process.

We harvest rose petals at the peak of the summer season and drop them into pure naturally sweet glycerine. The glycerine draws the rose compounds from the flower petals and holds them suspended in a preserved state. As the months pass the clear glycerine gradually turns a deep rosy color. We process our Rose Elixir for a minimum of six moths. Once the extraction is complete, we strain out the spent rose petals and infuse the elixir with Flower and Gem essences. The result: the taste of Pure Rose Essence infused with energetically active essences and naturally sweetened with clear glycerine.

Add Rose Elixir to pure water or mix with a fine clear vodka for a delightfully delicate cocktail. Add a few drops to your culinary favorites, a cup of tea or simply splash a few drops on the tip of your tongue.
